Mr. Unger is President and CEO of The Unger Company, Ltd., and founder of UNGER Software Corporation. The Unger Company, Ltd. specializes in the design and implementation of life insurance for trusts and estates, and business succession planning. UNGER Software’s products provided innovative technology-based financial planning and profiling solutions for the financial services industry. Its programs were in use by insurance companies, banks and brokerages throughout the United States. The company was sold in 2008 to Scivantage.
Mr. Unger has been an active practitioner in the high net worth and ultra high net worth planning field for decades. He has authored many articles and has lectured before numerous accounting firms and professional groups inclusive of the New York State Bar Association, American Society of Women CPAs, Westchester CPA Society, the Institute of Management Accountants, the Sy Syms School of Business of Yeshiva University, and at the NYS Society of CPA’s Foundation of Accounting Education programs. He has been quoted in various publications such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Market Chronicle, numerous local and specialty publications and has appeared on the Financial News Network and CBS Morning Business.
Mr. Unger holds an AB degree from Brown University in Economics and a Juris Doctor degree from the Boston University School of Law with a specialty in taxation. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States and is a member of the New York State Bar. Mr. Unger belongs to the Society of Trusts & Estates Practitioners (STEP) holding the title of “TEP”, Society of Financial Service Professionals, New York City Estate Planning Council, the Association of Advanced Life Underwriters, the Yale Insurance Study Group, and the New York Tax Study Group. He also has been a member of and lecturer to the New York University Tax Study Group and New York University Advanced Estate Planning Study Group.
